Water Transfer Decals

Have you ever wanted super cute nail art but didn't have the time (or maybe skill) to do it? Don't get me started, of course you have! Lucky for us, the nail art industry is working hard to satisfy us, and they're doing pretty well lately. 

When I was in junior high I remember getting some water transfers from...somewhere. Since I was already a nail polish fiend, they ended up on my nails right away. On every.single.nail. In some cases this can be done now, but assure you, that was not the case with my nails back then. Think of a train wreck, a sparkly, multi-colored train wreck with the same design plopped in the exact same place on each nail, err, train car. Yeah, I shivered just now too.

For the longest time since then I've only used water transfer decals on my toes, and then only really on my big toes as accents. Maybe I was traumatized from back then. Or maybe my other toes were just too small. Or maybe I didn't think I could use water transfers with the soak-off gel I use on my finger nails (don't tell anyone!). Well, the reason doesn't matter anymore because I got some new ones.

Packaging-wise, they look almost exactly like stickers, but they're a little different. For starters, they're so FLAT! Stickers are great. Really, I love them. But there's something about that bump on my nail that can get old after a while.

Application is pretty simple too. Follow these simple steps to flawless:

• Cut out your design. There's a little outline around the picture if you look carefully. You don't need to cut close to that, just try not to actually cut that outline.
• Dip the piece (backing and all) into water to loosen the design, gently slide the image off onto your finger/hand/wherever. Don't leave it there too long or it may stick. These are really similar to temporary tattoos.
• Gently wipe to remove excess water. I said wipe but maybe pat is a better word. This is especially important if you're applying to any kind of UV nails.
• Press onto your nail. If you're using nail polish apply them while your polish is still tacky. If using soak-off gel, apply onto a cured color coat and leave the tacky layer.
• Apply a top coat to hold it down and voila! Done.

They look so nice and take almost no extra time. That's a pretty big nail art win.
